Statement on Anti-Semitism

Like other religious communities throughout the world, CBIOTP is shocked by the increasing incidents of Anti-Semitism which have occurred in our local neighborhoods.

The ADL, which tracks these types of events, has published startling statistics which should concern us all. The FBI reports that while the Jewish community makes up only 2% of the nation’s population, over 50% of hate crimes target our communities.

Rabbi Wasser had the opportunity to represent our congregation at the recent No Harm No Fear rally which took place in Lower Manhattan. He was inspired by the masses of protestors who joined from all segments of the Jewish community to stand together in unity and brotherhood.

CBIOTP is a congregation that advocates tolerance, kindness, inclusivity and peace. We pray that this vision is soon realized in a world of acceptance, freedom of religion and building of bridges between all humankind.

From the words of our liturgy: May He who brings peace above, speedily bring peace to all of us, the people of Israel and, indeed, all of humankind, Amen.
