A High Holiday Message From Our President

September, 2020

Congregation Beth Israel of the Palisades and Gesher Shalom/The JCC of Fort Lee will come together to celebrate the High Holy Days, which begin on the evening of Friday September 18th. We hope you will join us.

This year, all of the services will be live-streamed over the Internet, so you can enjoy them from the comfort and safety of your home. Audio of the services will be accessible by telephone for those without Internet service.

Members of the synagogue normally receive free tickets to the services. Although we will not issue tickets this year, members will receive free access to the live-streams. In order to enjoy this benefit, members must have paid at least 50% of their annual membership fee by September 1, 2020, unless other arrangements have been made with the synagogue president, Craig Bassett, or the treasurer, Gary Miller. To request access to our services, please contact the synagogue office at 201-947-1555 or shul@cbiotp.org by September ll(h.

Following our long-standing custom, we also invite non-members to celebrate the holidays with us. If you have friends or other family members who would like to attend our services, they may do so for a charge of $75 per person. This is half of the normal price for non-members and given the circumstances, we believe it is fair.

The synagogue will lend Machzorim (prayer books) to those attending the services. Details on how and where to pick up your book(s), as well as how to access the live-stream, will be communicated in the coming weeks.

Every year, we invite you to wish the CBIOTP community a Shanah Tovah. Please join us in wishing the entire CBIOTP family a happy, sweet and healthy New Year by filling out and sending in the enclosed ad form with your payment. The form must be returned to the synagogue office by Friday, September 11th.

As you know, it has also been a long-standing tradition at our synagogue to print a special Yizkor memorial booklet for Yom Kippur. This booklet provides us the opportunity as a congregation to offer loving tributes to those who no longer walk this earth, but who are still, very much part of our lives and memories. Our booklet includes names of members (of blessed memory), who are included on the memorial plaques from both CBIOTP and the New Synagogue of Fort Lee. This year, we will join together with our friends at Gesher Shalom/The JCC of Fort Lee to create one booklet. The Yizkor booklet ad form must be returned to the synagogue office by Thursday, September 17th.

We wish you an enjoyable rest of the summer and look forward to celebrating the High Holy Days with you.

May your 5781 be healthy, joyous, and prosperous and may you be inscribed for another good year!

Sincerely,
Craig Bassett
President
