Vayakhel: “And he assembled"
Exodus 35:1-40:38 + 12:1-20

G-d told Moses the wonders of His creation

The lengths and widths

Heights and breadths

Upon which to build the tabernacle

And as He told Moses
the children came
as if creating a giant tapestry

Each with a purpose in weaving
this colorful array of wonder

And from the midst of the tribes
came craftsmen with surety of hand and skill of tool

Each with a purpose in unveiling
the desires of the L-rd

From tent to lamp
each gave hearts and hands in illuminating

The home where G-d would come to dwell

Indeed holy

Like no other place this prayerful point of light
opened up the next world to our own

Allowing the Creator to feed His hungering offspring

Journeying forth
in the quest of the long sought-after land

The L-rd went with them

In a place

An altar

Crafted by human hands

For the bountiful heartbeat of G-d
