Eikev: “As a result”
Deuteronomy 7:12 - 11:25

It has been quite a journey the L-rd has lead us upon

Trekking through the wilderness
for the measure of forty years

Some would say He has tested us in every way

From aching hunger in our bellies
as we searched for the gates of prayer

To manna in the desert dry
to feed our disbelief

So we might know we do not live by bread alone

But also by our feet
we marched through countless days

Yet we have persevered
a living testament to our faith

For our journey began with a single step
continued with another in time

Together as a people
and separate as a seeker of truth

We daily set upon the path that brought us here
to the banks of the Jordan

Where the clothing upon our backs

Is sewn to the fabric of our hearts

G-d’s promises have remained wrapped about us
like a mantle of fine linen

Keeping spirits warm in times of doubt
safe in moments of fear

And as one we have persevered

G-d’s children walking onward

Seeking to honor Him wherever we go
