Shofar (Akeidah)

My eyes are open
and ears search wide

As my soul listens to the sacred sound Blow the shofar loud and long

Joyfully I lift the sacred horn
with purpose
and self-offering

Exhaling my all

Bind my soul to the altar of promise

All I was or dream to become

Here I joyfully sacrifice

What HaShem first breathed into me Reaching my hand
to release the childlike Isaac
bound in my own heart

With no question or regret
fear or puzzle

Instead

Freely

Reverently

Penning our hearts upon crisp, new pages And written for the ages

Upon our shared Book of Life
